Men on Monday

Hello everyone, I hope this week is filled with inspiration, good luck and love – infact I hope that these things always feature in your week!

I feel my blog (and life) needs a little structure.

Maybe it will be fashion based, model based, music, photography, computer games or i do not know but it will be based on something and will feature every Monday ! Oh and also on a Wednesday there will be more structure.. but with a focus on women who inspire in many ways !

So here is to Men on Monday:

Fashion: The sunshine showed his face a little today, so I have been thinking about summer clothes !

I adore all his work and he inpires me ( and no doubt others ) so very much. He just has a wonderful mind and I would love to take a peek in there one day and again, like many others, I would love to work with this fantastic man ! When teamed with Johnny Depp ( view here ) the fun gets even more extreme, two very unique, talented and very fun men and not at all your usual Hollywood creatures ! ! Wayne Hemingway Ft Lily Allen

What about a fashion festival !?

“It’s like bringing the Venice Biennale, London Fashion Week, the London Design Festival, a bit of the Edinburgh Fringe, a bit of Glastonbury and the Festival of Britain, and taking the best of all that and trying to create more of a whole with it,” Hemingway tells The Guardian.

What will we find at this fashion festival:
roller disco, a 40s-style nightclub and a recreation of the Northern Soul venue Wigan Casino

So is this one of the new ventures of Lily Allen ..along side her her other venture, a shop “Lucy in Disguise” where you will be able to go and rent wondrous clothes without paying the heavy price tag ! A fantastic idea I think, as we all tend to want to wear new things each time we go out and that can get rather expensive ! To be able to rent delightful dresses which we may not normally be able to afford is quite something and as a fan of Lily’s style I think this all sounds quite promising !

Ahhh I just read that Lily will be launching her fashion collection at the event !

So Wayne Hemingway is starting his own festival…a bit of Glastonbury, Fringe and LFW they say
…… I think that sounds like heaven!

What do you make of it ?? I would love to be involved with somehting like this – the events organisation side, photography, music, fashion ! it has everything I love all rolled into one ! some social media? i.will.do.anything !

Hello all , I may be a little late with this one…but four days ago ( while in Paris ) I got a reminder of the Vouchercodes.co.uk Bargainista challenge and the idea of winning LFW tickets is quite exciting!

I got home last night and fell asleep thinking of what my best bargain outfit was…and even if I am a little late I had fun deciding what to show and tell to you lovely readers and what a better way to show you my new vintage blazer I found in Paris !

I found this necklace at the bottom of a pile of clothes in the Monsoon/Accessorize sale in Huddersfield a good few years ago…at a fab £2.00 I could not say no. I am sure you can tell that it has been well worn ( it once had a bird and a cage on it but this fell off after lots of nights out dancing whilst at university ) !

My outfit consits of my new fantastic blazer I found in a vintage shop in Paris…I have an awful habit of putting my hands in my pockets and it must stop!

Anyway the blazer was £8 euros .. which I thought was fab, its in good condition, it is purple and has leopards all over it !

The dress I have on underneath is from a sale in Dorothy Perkins , I do not buy a lot from here but always pop in now and then incase I spot something pretty ! Just before Christmas I popped in and found this dress for £7.00 !

The tights I have on are from Topshop and I also found these in the sale… for a fantastic £3.00. I am someone who wears tights most days and I must say that these ones are fantastic quality…so far ! !

Last of all my boots are from Magic Vintage in Huddersfield…
I got these a few years ago for £5.00 ish I think, I wear boots a lot ..when I am not wearing pumps and converse and these are fab!

Ok…so there you go …a total of £22.00 not too bad I say !

My secret bargain hunting tip is :

No no no , not David Dickinson !

It is to be open minded …do not dismiss a shop, a carboot sale, ebay or chairty shop just because you did not find anything there before. Always pop in and take a look! You never know what you may find !

Betsey Johnson – Fall Winter 2010/2011

I just love seeing a sneaky peak behind the final product – why ? Well girls in hair rollers having their make up applied and photograhers knocking about taking photos..that is why!

Hair in pig tails/bunches…messy ones! This is fantastic, I often have my hair like this and although I think it makes me look a bit young ( yes I got asked for i.d to buy a lotto ticket the other day (I am 22) )but I just really like messy piggy tails!

What will I be taking note of and using ?!

A Topshop video

I think that all the clothes look soft and comfy perfect for the really hot weather we are unlikely to get in the UK ! Im only kidding, I am sure we will get a crazy hot week where everyone will appear to become unemaployed, fill up the parks, drink too much and pass out due to the heat !
It is all about big big shoes, I really like wedges/platforms – nice and easy (ish) to walk in !
Big hairbands – which I know we all love and it seems the key accessory is a:
flat tummy !

er…I guess I will be off to the gym then …bye !

Waddle round Manchester and SHINE

Coffee and cupcakeswith hearts on make me shine !

I met up with Cally from the Manchester Shine event the other week whilst she was in Manchester. Between eating cupcakes and sipping coffee she told me all about the Manchester Shine event ! I had already found out about the Shine event whilst looking on the Cancer research website, so it was interesting to find out a little extra information about the event !

What is Shine?!

Well Shine is an event for both men and women to get involved with, it will be a 13 mile or 26 mile walk ( whichever you choose ) through Manchester to raise funds for Cancer Research UK!

It is not just any old walk around Manchester .. it will be at night time and light will be used in different ways throughout the event to symbolise bringing hope to the darkness of cancer!

Date: Saturday 17 April 2010
Time: 22:00
Location: Manchester
Entry fee:
£30*

There is a map here which shows you all of the landmarks of Manchester which you will pass on your walk – Granada Tv, the Hilton Hotel and for those football fans out there you will get to waddle past Manchester United FC which I am sure will be looking very pretty in light on the night !

There will also be lots of entertainment going on , when I find out more informaiton about this I shall inform you !

If you are interested to find out more or maybe you are already signed up and would just like to get into the Shine spirit a little more then visit Your Shine where you can connect with others who are taking part, share what you are doing in the run up to Shine and maybe even donate a blog post to the cause ! On the website Cally says: You may blog about photography so perhaps you could give advice on how to capture a moving object, or if fashion is passion maybe you could share tips on how to style get out your Shine walking outfit. It’s totally up to you!

I take part in The Race For Life each year – So I think this is a nice little change and the fact that both men and women can take part and also raise money for whichever cancer they wish which is fab as sadly most of us know someone who has been affected!
