500 days of summer…at last

I am a little late with this one, I have finally got around to watching 500 Days Of Summer. I expect most of you saw it ages ago, I did say I was a little late! I enjoyed this film, I really wasn’t sure what to expect as I had heard (read on other blogs) that the ending could have been better. I do kind of agree that there could have been such a different variety of endings, but there are so many cases where a boy or a girl is left with no real conclusion. I have seen it happen to a friend or two, they are madly in love, then it ends. Why does it end? they have no idea how or why but it has… and this is what happened in this lovely little film. It was very pretty of course and not a fairytale as they say themselves. Life is sadly not made of fairytale endings, a lot of people do find such an ending but it can usually take a while to get there. This film proves just that, but also shows that life goes on, no matter how much hurt or emptiness someone can leave you with there is still going to be someone else who will not give you that empty conclusion.

We all have expectations of how a situation is going to go, or the way we are daydreaming it in our head. What we will wear, say, do and how well it will all go. So I thought this part of the film was so perfect in capturing something so simple and common in our little minds.

I enjoyed watching this and would suggest that if you are a fan of pretty indie things then pop to the video shop ( hehe old school I know ) download it off itunes or buy it for only a few pounds in Fopp and enjoy.

This film made me long for the summer time, floral dresses, skipping through record shops and gazing into the eyes of your boy of the moment… Oh, and of course it made me want to run through Ikea and play house !
The other moment of the film I fell a little bit in love with is where he draws the city onto Summer’s arm, this made me want to have something similar inked onto my arm or maybe something someone special will doodle onto me..
Screen-caps by me…

I hope that you got something from my little “review” or maybe it was a mini ramble..

Oh and please don’t ever leave someone without an ending, with no conclusion and no idea what the hell has happened !

Boxy bag from Next

A new everyday bag from Next. I spent about two weeks popping in and out of Next looking for an ideal bag and a hat. I picked this bag up each time but was not so sure about the pattern, in the end I went for it as it was a good boxy shape which is what I was needing. I purchased this bag with a voucher I was sent from Next as a thank you for taking part in a Christmas competition they did. I always pop into Next if I am in town as I really like the shoes they do and because of looking at the bags so much I have managed to make a little list of bags I really like. Do you ever go into Next ? I know a few people still feel it is all a little oldish in there, but they really have changed over the past few years and you can find some really lovely on trend bits. Oh and of course they have lovely adverts too.
I have been finding that all the bags I own get heavy so quickly. It seems to be that they all sink down in the middle and all the weight adds up fast so I get a sore arm. So I have been looking for a box type bag with a nice sturdy shape. Some of you may call this kind of bag a satchel, which is what I would call it sometimes. But at the moment ‘a boxy kind of bag’ is what I have been looking for and have thankfully found.
This bag is a medium size, it fits at most ( so that it only just closes ) – my diary, 2 purses, phone, book, lipstick, carmex, inhaler, ipod and train card holder. As you will see I didn’t have that much in it when I took these photos. I have always said that what is in my bag changes from day to day and I still stand by that.
Bag: £26.00

This is what was in my bag at the moment I was taking these photos. Not so exciting as you can see, but all the things I generally need were knocking about in this pretty new bag.
It was my first day at my new (second) job today, I only did three hours but it went very fast and I really did enjoy it. Tomorrow I am at work (my other job) working on my Healthy Media project, I am looking forward to going in as I have a few ideas that i want to be researching.
I hope you have all had a lovely Wednesday.

She dressed like an orange for the night..

An orange is the best kind of snack, at the moment anyway. It’s fancy bright colour makes me feel most happy and has made me realise that I need an orange coat, yes, a fun coloured jacket is what I am missing right now.
This is what I have found over at ASOS - £75.00 – it is just what comes into mind when I look at the orange above and yes that orange makes me feel a need for the 60′s. Well, it was all about the bright colours wasn’t it?! I think this mac does it perfectly, bright and a little swinging 60′s… just what I need for these dull rainy days.. ! They have it in blue too, being a big fan of the colour blue means that I of course would like to click buy on that one.. but this year is all all about new things and I said an orange coat is what I need, so it is what I shall get. When payday arrives (I have not been paid since early December..not cool) I am thinking I will click buy. On the orange coat and not the blue, obviously.
This is sure to go with all my dresses and i am trying to think if I have some hats which will go nicely with it, maybe ill try the bowler hat.

Hats and hair bows…

These photos are from my phone…
A sneaky look at a vintage bow my sister gave me for Christmas. At the moment I am all about wearing hats, hairbands and bows. I have always been quite a fan of all these things actually, I am just making a bit more effort to wear something different on my head each day of the week.

I got this hat in the sale at UO just after Christmas.. here it is with a little snow on it. I also got a bowler hat which has gone down well with friends at work, however I haven’t really worn it in my town, I don’t think they are quite ready for the bowler hat yet..
I think that over the next few months we will be seeing and wearing a hell of a lot more upon ones head. I have already spotted some pretty hairbands in New Look and Next.
I also quite like a scarf fashioned into a bow on the head ..

Lemony Cheesecake..

What I used to make this lemony cheesecake .. I googled how to make a cheesecake and took inspiration from a variety of places.. this is very easy :

200g of digestive biscuits… smash them up!!

200g butter – melt this and add to the biscuits when smashed.

Squeeze half a lemon/1 lemon or just a dash of lemon into the biscuit mix. Depends on how much you like lemon.

Place into a tin and make it nice and flat and evenly spread out and then pop it into the fridge.

Get your whisk at the ready !

IMG_9926
200g of cream cheese
150g of thick double cream

Whisk it !

Squidge some lemon into the mix.. I used about 2 lemons and the rind of one.. why the rind? why the hell not !

Nearly there now !

Just add 75g of icing sugar… or there about !

In it goes…and whisk!

IMG_9933
Remove biscuit base from the fridge…evenly spread the mixture onto the base.

Pop it back in the fridge for as long as you can wait !

IMG_9935
When you simply can’t wait any longer take it out of the fridge, put the kettle on and have a slice of homemade lemony cheesecake and a cuppa good english tea.

IMG_9938
I was tempted to make this look pretty….but I didn’t have much time as people were waiting to eat it. So it is here..a basic cheesecake that tasted very good !

Don’t forget ! You can adapt this to anyway you like…maybe you fancy lemon and lime or orange. Do it and if you want to make a bigger size than I did then just double the ingredients.

Mypure: Lovea Bio L’Argan

I am always telling you all how much I adore the brand Lovea Bio from the MyPure website. I have tested out many of their lovely products, today I am showing you this L’Argan oil. I picked this because I use Bio Oil, so I figured that this would be similar and give my skin lots of moisture. This is £7.99 and comes in a 125ml spray bottle which makes good for very easy application. This oil has a sweet smell which is lovely and also I should mention that this is not greasy.

The oil does a fantastic job of rehydrating my skin, I did find out however that I shouldn’t put it onto any parts of broken skin as it does make it sore. I have been using this most days, as soon as I get out the shower I towel dry and then apply some of this. I will be using this as well as my bio oil. I have been using Bio Oil to get rid of some scars on my legs and also to rehydrate my skin. The Lovea Oil is a very good contender to Bio Oil… !

What they say:  When applied to the skin Argan Oil increases elasticity, nourishes and helps normalise the skin. Argan Oil is a 100% natural skin food and regular use will keep your skin in tip top condition. Moroccan Argan Oil is a powerful anti-oxidant and UV protector.

Salts Mill Saturday..

On Saturday I went to Salts Mill with my mum and sister. Although I have a bit of a cold at the moment I had a lovely time and of course, some tea and crumpets. Salts Mill is full of David Hockney’s paintings, photography and a fantastic slideshow of his iPhone and iPad paintings.
This is a good read – Find out why the iPad and iPhone inspire David Hockney !
I came away with lots of inspiration from my little visit to Salts Mill and also a list of books I would really like.
I did take a bunch of photos via my iphone but they are on facebook at the moment.. if i get the chance i shall show you some of them. For now you will have to enjoy the photos of tea and food !

This was in a little goodie bag from my auntie. She was spot on with this lip balm, I adore passion fruit, so a lip balm that smells just like them is a sure winner ! I keep taking it of my bag to smell and pop a little on.. tastes good too!

What goes on at Pixar Studios?!

A sneaky peak into what goes on at Pixar!

I found this the other day via a link someone posted on Twitter, I have course shared it with friends on Twitter and Facebook, it would have been rude to not let my Blogger friends see. This is such a lovely little video and there is even a hidden door in a bookshelf from an office to a delightful space to relax and sip whiskey !

Oh, I still have not seen Toy Story 3… must get round to that as soon as possible.
