A variety of books..

A tiny pigeon hole of my books, many are packed away in the garage and I have also given lots to charity. Some of these I will read for a second time and some for a first and then they will be boxed in the garage and make room for many more I am yet to read. I have put a wide selection of books into this pigeon hole, there is really is something for everyone.

I have read quite a few of the books which are in this pigeon hole. The Clarkson books are funny, the two Paul Theroux books I am yet to read, they are actually next on my list after the ones by my bed. Have you ever read a book by Paul Theroux ? I love his writing style, it really makes you feel as though you are there on his trip meeting the interesting people he writes about. The Goddess Experience is a fashion book and you can also see some of my old study books from college and university there. If you would like a little more info on any of the books then drop me a message.

I am not reading any of these books at the moment, the ones I am reading are by my bed. I do have some book reviews for you soon and was thinking of doing them in a video format. What do you think ? The only thing that worries me is that Youtube seems to have lots of haters knocking about…

What I wore….again..

IMG_4130
I wore my mustard tights from Dorothy Perkins again, this time I paired them with some Converse (bet you didn’t see that coming..) and my Gap skirt. You can also see my watermelon necklace trying to get in on the photo action. Luckily it is not really in focus, it’s the tights we are looking at!
I have been making a big effort to not wear black tights and am glad to say it’s going very well. I will of course show you all that own do own other colours of tights than mustard, maybe I should do a full outfit shot. What do you think ? I want to continue with wearing black tights less throughout the window and stick to some classic autumn colours such a mustard (obviously), rusty orange, deep red and navy.

From red to brown..

From this…
Excuse my friend getting in the way there..
to this..
To this:

I had my hair coloured at Veewon in Beccles, the girl did a really good cut and I am happy with the colour too. I miss the bits of copper and blonde but as this fades it will start to shine through, so that’s something to look forward to. This is more work appropriate and yes, it’s just brown hair but in certain lights it shines red and copper which makes it a little more exciting.
I loved having bright red hair and really embraced it whilst I was in Cannes , but as soon as we were back it had faded so much, red colour seems to fade as soon as your start washing it. I think I ruined plenty of hotel towels with my red hair and to add to it my friend Luca died his pink so  I am sorry to say those poor hotel towels were in a bit of a state. If you are thinking of colouring your hair red and are happy to enjoy the bright colour for the few weeks it lasts then that’s fine but if you want something which will last longer then I don’t recommend it. Mine faded to a lovely copper and blonde shade which I really enjoyed having, then the roots started showing and I finally had to have a change.
I think I will go back to having red hair one day, my hair needs a rest for now though.

Do you own too much stationery ?

IMG_4026
IMG_4024
For those of you like me who have too much stationery and try to display it nicely but it just becomes messy…well, I have an idea (a simple one)
I have decided to keep all my stationary in shoe boxes, but you could use plastic boxes form somewhere like Ryman or Muji. At the moment I have just put everything into a few boxes but as soon as I have some spare time I will organise them a bit better.

Urban Outfitters : A new coat for Zooey

The coat is 70% wool which makes it’s selling price of £125 a little more understandable, this is sure to keep you warm and cosy !
To me this coat represents a new 2011 version of the coat Zooey Deschanel wore in Yes Man. UO did a  coat about two years ago which was very similar to the vintage coat (yes many people google away trying to find out where that coat was from) which Zooey wore in the film Yes Man. Still to this day people make their way to my blog post about similar coats to the one in Yes Man.
I have shared each autumn since the film, a coat which I thought would give you the look of Zooey Deschanel in Yes Man. This year I am with UO and their Pins and Needles navy coat, I think it is a new look and shape but still keeps the delightful coloured edging. As classic as navy and red will always be it is ok to mix it up from time to time and this is exactly what UO has done. I think the green edging has worked really well against the navy.
If you want to get the Zooey Yes Man look with a 2011 AW twist then I suggest you go for the UO Pins and Needles coat. I am very tempted..!

Decoded | Bing

It’s been a while since I shared a marketing campaign with you, I think I may have mentioned the Decoded | Bing campaign a few times, I have decided to share this video with you as it explains step by step how they came up with the idea for the campaign to increase visitors to Bing with the launch of Decoded, the latest book by Jayz. The video tells you how they rolled it out and made it into a game. It of course also gives you all the information of how well the campaign did and all the traffic that made their way to Bing. This was such an innovative campaign and is definitely up there with my top ten favourite marketing campaigns.

Alva Naturkosmetik

I would much rather have a shower than a bath, but once in a while I will find a product that really makes me want to spend some time in the bath with a good book and see how the product benefits my skin. I am sure you know very well by now that I am careful with what I use on my skin, when I was little I was never allowed to use the fun bubble baths which were in the shops, especially Matey and oh how I always wanted a bottle of Matey ! I was given some bubble bath for part of a birthday gift once, used it and my skin went read and sore for days, so it seemed my parents were right, there really was a good reason I was not to use bubble bath. I would still be well up for trying Matey though, bad skin or not.. well kind of !

IMG_4178
I soon realised there were alternatives which would benefit my skin as opposed to ruin it, I have used certain bath bombs from Lush which have been fine and caused no irritation and have recently been using dead sea bath salts by Alva. I have used dead sea based products before, a few years ago but the name escapes me. When I spotted the dead sea bath salts on Mypure I knew I had to try them out because my last experience with a similar product went well and it says that the bath salts are very good for eczema.

IMG_4174
Price: £5.15 for 500g
Value for money: Fantastic, I used half of the bag in one bath due to my eczema but you may only need 1/4 if your skin is ok.
Will I buy it again: Yes, but it wont be a regular purchase as I prefer showers to baths. This is something I would buy for my mum as a gift.

What they say : ”Salt from the Dead Sea contains more calcium and magnesium salts than normal sea salt. These minerals have a calming effect on the skin and encourage cell renewal. They are effective in retaining the skin’s natural moisture barrier. Add a handful to your bath for a body boosting mineral bath.”

The only let down is the packaging, it needs to be in a container and not a bag, something which you can store the half you don’t use in till next time. I only used half of the bag at once and still have the other half awkwardly in the bag waiting to be used. Maybe if the larger size came with a nice box then you could keep that and just buy refills.

Have any of you ever used the Alva dead sea bath salts?

The magic of Tim Burton..

I have just had a stroll around the Tim Burton website with the help of Stain Boy. You guide him around the website with your arrow keys and can enjoy looking at all the fantastic work Tim burton has put onto his website. I have shared a few of my favourites with you, I really like Tim Burton’s work and enjoyed scooting through the website whilst enjoying a cup of coffee.

There is also a book which must be very new as I have not heard of it before, it is The Art Of Tim Burton and is full of personal and project artwork ! I hope to get myself a copy….soon !
