Skincare: Coconut range from The Body Shop

Every year I pick up a few gifts from The Body Shop as Christmas presents and stocking fillers. This year will be the same, I’ve actually already grabbed a few tubes of Hemp hand cream because they were on special offer. I’ve made more of an effort to try new products from The Body Shop this year and I think it’s all down to their recent marketing (always thinking with my business head). They’ve really stood out in terms of their social media activity, did you see Fleur’s behind the scenes video from the Targanine Community Fair Trade Project in Morocco? If not, it’s well worth a watch and really reminds you about the true story behind The Body Shop.

I was asked to be involved with The Body Shop blogger advent calendar and of course, I said yes. They kindly sent over a selection of products about a month ago and today I’m going to be sharing my thoughts with you (as always you’ll be getting my honest opinion).

First up is this Coconut Beauty Bag – £12. The Body Shop always do fantastic gift sets for the festive season with varying price points. This bag comes with a 60ml shower cream, 50ml body butter, 30ml hand cream and a bath lily.

The shower cream is a soap free product which I was pleased to see because I knew it would be ok for my sensitive skin. The consistency of the product is lovely and thick and yet doesn’t leave you feeling greasy. I found that it actually worked well with my dry/sensitive skin and I’ve had no irritations. I used it alongside the bath lily which allows for an easy application. It has a lovely sweet scent of coconut but isn’t too overpowering. I’m sure I’ll be picking up a full sized bottle in the near future.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll know I love the Body Shop hand creams. I’d never tried the coconut one as I usually go for Hemp or Rose so it was nice to be pushed out of my comfort zone. This hand cream is much lighter than the Hemp cream but is still moisturising. I think that personally this would be one I’d use more in the summer as I tend to need a thicker cream in the winter time. However, my sister would love this for winter as she prefers a lighter cream and like me, she loves coconut. The cream has a beautiful sweet coconut scent and drys very quickly so you can continue typing away on your laptop!

The final product in the beauty bag is the body butter. This stuff is lovely. The product has a thick consistency which I really like and smells lovely, not too sweet but more of a rich coconut scent, it seems to last all day. I’ve found that the body butter has kept my skin hydrated throughout the day, ideal for this cold weather we’ve been having.

Next we have the Coconut Scrub – £13. As soon as you open up the pot a strong scent of coconut comes floating out. I actually think that the scrub smells like a coconut chocolate truffle, anyone else? I’ve been using the product all over my body but with a focus on my legs and elbows. I use it twice a week and haven’t had any skin irritations. Actually, I don’t believe I’ve ever had any problems with my sensitive skin and The Body Shop products.

The scrub offers a gentle exfoliation and has a creamy consistency. I like that it’s not too harsh on the skin and leaves you feeling very soft and smooth. This body scrub alone would make a lovely gift but if you really wanted to splash out you could pick up a few extra items from the coconut range.

Don’t forget to check out the full advent calendar and see what other bloggers have been talking about. If you’re thinking of picking up a few bits for Christmas you should take advantage of their current special offers, I know I will be.
