Hoogly Tea Review

Hoogly Packaging

The other day I told you about my my recent trip to Cambridge. What I forgot to tell you was that I spent a good part of that week testing out new teas. I love trying, testing and sharing new teas, especially when they’re from brands that are totally new to me.

One of the brands I’ve really been enjoying since that trip is Hoogly tea – pronounced ‘Hyggelig‘. It was founded by Tina Gloggengieser who’s from Aarhus in Denmark but now lives in Brighton. Hygge is a Danish word, it’s an experience which gives the feeling of warmth, wellbeing and cosiness.

All Hoogly teas are blended and packaged here in the UK. They’re ethically sourced and fairly traded – it’s always good to hear this.

I love the simplistic packaging of the tea, the markings on the boxes reminds me of the groves you see on a tree. The logo is simple but conveys a relaxing feeling.

I tried out 2 different blends from the brand – Sparkling White and Chill Out Mint, both of which were lovely teas.

Sparkling White has a Chinese White Tea base. I’m not sure why, but I was originally expecting floral notes from this tea. However, the mix of apple pieces, lemongrass, ederflower and hibiscus create a real fruity flavour. The tea is a little tart, as you’d expect from a fruit tea.

I really enjoyed this tea and found it perfect for drinking without milk in the evening.

Chill Out Mint is a new favourite for me. I’m a big fan of minty teas and this one did not disappoint. It’s a blend of peppermint, spearmint, eucalyptus and pine needles. I find it has a very refreshing and uplifting flavour and is ideal for drinking after meals.

I love to support independent businesses. It’s always fun to discover new ones and share my favourites here with you.
