Some Aussie fun !

A few weeks ago I packed my over night bag and jumped on that oh so familiar train to Manchester. As always my Ipod was NOT fully charged, I had forgot my book and I had a heavy bag. As always I decided to stay out of peoples way by not taking a seat ! I really need to learn to sometimes take a seat on the train ... especially as it takes 40 mins to get to Manchester !

I arrived ready for a little shopping spree before heading to the second Aussie event which was to take place at the fantastic David Rozman salon !

Me and my non blogging friend Gemma found the salon and sat waiting for 7:00 on a bench deciding if the other three girls on the bench across were also bloggers awaiting the Aussie Pamper night !

Gues what ! They were... and it was:

As the lovely Girl With The Golden Touch does not keep her name on her blog I was not sure if I should put it on here ! So you can know her as the Girl With The Golden Touch !

Glasses of champagne were ready to meet us at the door... anytime a glass was empty the lovely and very pretty Lauren was ready to hop over and top up the glass ! Oh she also ran around with her camera taking snaps of everyone ! Now I am sure many of you know that I love to take photos of others...but that is the side of the lens that I like to stay ! But here you go...

Me with the yummy ( Yes yummy ) Volume Aussie shampoo. It smelt amazing, I have used Aussie products on and off ov er the past year or so but never seen or used the Volume stuff ! But.. I have found out that it is new ! Maybe that was why!

Just so you know while I remember that at the moment Aussie products are on two for £6.00 at ASDA and Boots ! I have stcked up on the scrummy Volume shampoo and conditioner. My hair is really enjoying its new lease of life with Aussie products ! I wash my hair most days....which I know is not good ! But now I am using Aussie I find my hair is a lot less dry and I am noticing a little more volume flying around !

My non blogging friend ( who says she shall be blogging soon ) also loved the smell of Aussie products and her hair looked lovely and pretty after it had been washed !

Lots of pretty books to look at whilst we waited for our turn and after we had been pampered we flicked through them again sipped champagne and tucked into the nibbles !

This makes me hungry! At the moment I am trying to avoid some of the foods on this table ! Except for the strawberries ...which are yummmy for breakfast !

David is on the far right of this photo ! He joined us in The Living Room for some yummy cocktails ! I of course stuck to my usual fave of a Mojito !

The 21st Century Statement Campaign

Do you remember the Juliette Lewis and Carl Barat campaign for J.Lindeberg??

The photographer who shot the campaign was Steven Klein
- Who I MUST give a whole post to... his photography is so very interesting and fantastic !

I remember reading that they were very successful !

These are the best photos I could find online... The ones I was looking for did not seem to be around ! Which is quite annoying !

There was so much I liked and still do like about the ads !

The denim, black, hidden eyes and scruffy rock and roll that screams from the images is what pulls me right into the photos !
Cant forget the waistcoats (vests ) and boots !
I am craving it all right now!

I have watched Donnie Darko many times and each time I watch it again I figure out somehting new, come to a different conclusion or just fall in love all over again with this film.

One of my new find in Manchster is Mr.Scruffs cafe ( I cat remember the name, but I am in Mancester this weekend and will ake a little visit so I can letyou know !
For those of you who do not know who Mr.Scruff is :
"DJ, Producer, Cartoonist & Tea Drinker"

He has his own tea company http://www.makeusabrew.com/ ! That is one thing I must achieve in my life..my own tea line ... being such a fan of tea of all kinds I think it make sense !

The tea i organic and ethically produced ! Well that is very good in my books and I can confirm it tastes fab and the box looks fantastic !

Last night I made some fairy caks.. they were meant to be of the haloeen variety however I got the colouring a litte wrong so they are pinky fairy cakes ... with american icing!

Today I went walking at Cannon Hall , it was raining most of the time I was there but this did not stop it bein so very pretty!

How very lovely !
Such a perfect view through his door... maybe one of the best I have seen.. I know I may have posted photos of a trip to Cannon Hall before but these were lovely so I could not miss putting them on here for you to see!

I love little broken walls.. it always makes me wonder how the place used to look, what people used to walk there and what magic used to go on !

I thought that these leaves and lilies looked so pretty!

I really miss London.. I am in the process of applying to lots of jobs there ! I hope someone wants me !

He was a face I kept seeing popping up all over the place and after seeing him in Hot Fuzz I took some time to research him a little and found out he has been in or written a lot of my most loved shows and films !

If not - Well you should make sure you do. Its quite fantastic, Robert Downey Jr plays Chaplin in such a perfect way! In fact I think he is such an amazing actor he can just about play anyone !

Aussie Is My Angel !

A few weeks back I received an email from Lauren at Aussie, 3 events with aussie goodies ! How delightful I thought. I was sent a key and invite from Lauren but did not recevie it untill AFTER the first event had taken place ! Im a huge fan of Aussie products so I think you can guess how gutted I was!

I was delighted when Lauren sent me a box of Aussie Goodies to my house ! How fantastic and generous. As soon as I opened the box the yummy smell hit me ! and of course I jumped straight in the shower to try out the beautiful smelling goodies !

I can tell you they are a MUST try AUSSIE products are so very fantastic !

Oh and one more thing - In the goodie box was a Topshop voucher

The voucher is hiding in the little green pocket whilst he hangs out with a bottle of Miracle Moist ! Thankyou for my very soft hair Aussie !

This is also what is keeping me going today (Yes I am looking for jobs, researching jobs, listening to the rain and guess what ! Yes im over thinking)

Im not going to lie to you ! I have not really been doing so much the past few weeks, I have had my little trips to Manchester and spent the rest of my time researching jobs, courses and what I want to do with my life !

This photo makes me look like I have only one arm. However I do have two , it is the illusion that the over sized blazer ( ONLY £4.00 from a Huddersfield charity shop) is giving. The dress is from Republic, yes I was quite shocked too as I dont tend to find anything I like in there. Its simple and nice for summer...which is slowly drifting out of view...but still hanging on a little !

As you can see I do prefer to be the girl behind the lens rather than infront !

For me I am interested in so many things I find it hard to pin point something. But I think my dream job has to include photography, marketing, advertising, writing. history and psychology.

Maybe I will start my own magazine one day !

Oh and you may have noticed for some while that I have a button on my sidebar for VanitySanity ! I spotted a notice whilst I was "revising" in university (boo hoo I wish I was there now) and made a note of it in my diary. Later that day I came across the website I had jotted down and took a look. What did I find? well I found a delightful website full of beauty products and make up and cheaper prices ! 20% off BarryM ... I think so ! Im a little addicted to BarryM nail polish so for me (someone who actually has no job right now) this is a nice way of getting my hands on some new nail polish and other goodies as lower prices ! Yes Yes ! I know, should I really be buying new make up when I dont have a job yet ?! Im not sure.. I am looking though and will need nice nails for an interview ;)

Stop Paying Attention

So today I was applying for jobs - thats a lie, I was researching jobs to maybe apply for...i printed off some info about a few jobs and began to read. I then remembered that I needed to call up the camera people about my lovely camera - I have a nice little bill to pay of £150 ... So from "Error 99" to " You have sand in your scamera so we have to clean it" my heart became a little soft and sad ! You see, my xbox, laptop and camera are now all broke. If I was careless with my electronics then maybe I could understand...but my camera is well looked after I think. Yes , it has been all over on my travels with me but Grrr Oh well I became annoyed and I still am. The job descriptions are sitting to my right, i have fresh black coffee and I have been looking at quite a wondrous website/livejournal site !

Let me tell you about Lucy Knisley and her website Stop Paying Attention !

I came across it by chance, Im not even sure how If i am totally honest with you , but here is what caught my eye :

Delightful illustrations and what a yummy sounding Chai Tea - I must try this ! ( This was on her livejournal page)

I then found myself on her website - With these pretty illustraions and being a fan of comics (Lucy's really are quite fun ) I decided this new find was one I must share with you !

I love journals of any kind, I love blogs and personal websites, its a glimpse into someones life. So a journal based on a trip around Paris sounds quite perfect ! I really feel I must get my hands on this book !

I cut it out of a magazine for my note book... so its kind of my "folder" I just tracked down the photo online too!

Bright orange and blue to catch the last of the summer days we may have... and being in England I guess thats very few !

Im on the look out for a black lace dress, I know there is pleanty around but im yet to find the one for me ( oh and red lipstick - ive not yet found )

EDIT: Just had chance to add more !

I really am craving to catch any last bit of summer ( as I am typing the sunshine just got a little brighter through the window - and then dulled... ) so yes, everything that is catching my eye right now is brightly coloured, happy and carefree !

DVF - The bright yellow is so pleasing and screams at me to go on holiday , as do the flowers in the hair ! I think ill get back into wearing bigger hair accessories this week -flowers - bows and ribbons !

I am so sorry for the lack of posts this week, I have lots running through my mind ! Applyingfor jobs researching jobs has been taking up my week. I ahve also managed to fitting in re arranging my room and keeping an eye on NYFW !

The above is what you can find beside my bed at the moment. POP Magazine - although I have not had chance to have a good read of it just yet, I can tell you it isfull of excitement. On having a quick flick through on the bus I could barely contain my excitement due to the pull outs, interviews and amazing photography! I shall tell you more once I have had chance to actually read it !

Yes I have jumped onto the Twilight bandwagon, I have not watched the films but have so far read the first two books. I am addicted to them as I find them a nice easy read and an escape if I am honest ! Sometimes you just feel the need to escape for an hour or so into another world where your own personal worried and problems seem to fade away ! Im not sure if I will or will not watch the film yet ...

My poor camera has still not been sent back to me, infact I am calling the place I have sent it to as I type..... and they have not picked up the phone ! :( I picked up the two photography magazines in a charity shop. They are fairly recent ones but its nice to pay 20p each for them rather than the usual price - So dont forget to check your local charity shops for magazines !

Lily Alen and Karl Lagerfeld

I think maybe...just maybe its going to work very well!

Lily Allen looks quite fantastic and doesn't Karl Lagerfeld just hold himself so perfectly !

This has made me run and get out the thick black eye liner with light - almost white eye shadow. Its also givien me the inspiration I need to play around with my newly cut hair ! Messy hair and big sun glasses I think it has to be.

Oh ...Red lipstick... Im still on the search for the perfect shade and I think this video has pointed me in the right direction !

Last but not least I would really like to find some contacts that will make my world appear as though it was black and white !

Navy and Red = A winter coat

I think we all remember this delightful coat !

It is the one which Zooey Deschanel wore in the film Yes Man.

I think that I found out that this coat was a vintage coat which was pimped up a little for the film.

I was shopping in Manchester the other day and popped into Urban Outfitters on the off chance I may see something pretty.

Guess what !

I did ... and this is it... (photos from the website)

I was giddy when I saw this. Not only did it make me think "Yes man" excuse the pun but I am a huge fan of navy and blue !

I also like the fact it does not button all the way to the bottom. Being a little shortie this is a huge benefit for me. Im not sure about you , but i find if long coats have buttons to the bottom well ill be honest it drowns me !

The Peter Pan collar - need i say more !

At £155 it may be a little expensive, but for a winter coat I dont see that as too bad. Seen as it is made of wool mostly, I think thats quite good. Most coats on the highstreet dont always have much wool in them. In England I think thats a must, it does get cold.

Edit: It is made with mostly recycled wool !

The only thing is im not very good with wearing coats, i try to avoid them. But im very much in love with this one.

Why I think I may buy this coat :

1- Peter Pan collar

2- Red Trim

3- Navy blue and Red are quite fantastic together

4- Winter is approaching

Why I may not buy this coat:

My dads response - It reminds me of someone who works in a hotel, you know - a bell boy.

Is everyone going to end up with it - I doubt i would want it if it became very samey !

Daisy visits the South of England

Oh yes !! I have been buying back to school goodies even though I am no longer going back to school / college or even university ! I miss the fact I shall not be going back !

However its time for new doors to open !

As soon as I got home from Munich I took a trip down to the South of England where I met my family and spent a few weeks there. It was quite lovely and the weather was so perfect - sunshine, beach huts, reading and sipping tea was mainly how the weeks were spent !

We did visit London on my first day there as it was only a little away on the train. My mum sister and I had a fantastic day, it was sunny and we visited many pretty shops and drank tea whilst sneaking a little cup cake.

Then as soon as I got home i started on redecorating my room. As it is a funny shape I am doing it a little at a time. I have done half and Im now sorting everything into the room again and unpacking !

I found these very cute stickers which I got in London and thought I had left there. I was so happy I had not, so they can now be used for letters, postcards and notebooks !

Two sheets of black and brown stickers - How pretty !

Last night was spent reading old copies of National Geographic which I had not looked at in a long time. You can also see my new\old blazer from the local charity shop for just £4.00 !! Yes i know , nice and cheap and the fact it is navy blue and has nautical buttons just tops it off nicely !! I never usually find blazers in the charity shops round here, well at least ones that I like ! So it was a nice find ! It is a little big well very big, but I love the way it sits and means its a little longer than it would normally be !

A little nostalgia and hometown history

Baby blue with creamy white and a little black to rock it up ! I think its just perfect. Although the cream soda was a little sweet for me I could not help buying this delightfully packaged drink !

Ben Shaws is also from my home town of Huddersfield and I have found out that the old photographs have been taken from the Ben Shaws archives here in Huddersfield.

I think the unusual dandelion and burdock has to be my flavor of choice !

My Munich - Part Two

Oh Munich you were so good to me whilst I was with you. It was so green everywhere and so peaceful ! I felt very much at home in Munich.

The three photos below are of around the Olympic stadium and BMW Welt area. The first day we were there it was very very hot. The kind of heat that really makes you not want to be walking around, but to be sitting in a café sipping iced coffee.
Oh yes, speaking of iced coffee - I ordered one in a café and it arrived with ice cream and cream on. Yes it was VERY yummy and yes it made me feel very guilty. However I had been expecting a regular iced coffee. You know the kind - coffee, milk and ice ! But what arrived was actually a dessert ( and it arrived before my meal too). However it was yummy as I said !

I could have sat here for hours looking at the glittery water and beautiful green. But my friends wanted to see inside the Olympic stadium ( which is about 20 years old i believe ) and look fantastic.

The structure was so interesting and looked rather futuristic !

Here you really can see the water in all its glittery glory ! That was thanks to the sunshine. But how a pond of glitter would be so delightful perhaps !

Ah above we have the English Garten which was also very beautiful ! A huge park with a lovely stream, people having picnics, people jogging and cycling through and a lovely beer garden in the middle where we could attacked by a few wasp type creatures !

I really am one for sending postcards, its part of my holiday. I obviously don't send them to any old friend as i know some really could'nt care less where people are on holiday unless they are there too! I always send one to my family , my grandma and a few friends from blogs who also like to exchange post cards !

Almost getting run over by people on their bikes seemed to happen often, and at moments id forget the cycle lane and almost get run down ! I soon began to remember the cycle lane more after a few near misses !

I do like how everyone seemed to travel around by bike as well as the many people i saw jogging through the town ! Everyone seems to be so into keeping fit , and not to mention it is very friendly towards our poor environment !

Beer gardens - They were everywhere and they were cosy, friendly, full of life and laughter ! What i like about Germany and many other European countries is the fact that they go out and drink beer for enjoyment, if they get tipsy well yes they get tipsy. But us English have that "yeah lets get wasted tonight and mess up the town" kind of vibe going on. I know its only the minority yes but still its not a pretty image. Before you ask Yes i drink alcohol ... !

I guess the only little thing I am trying to say is that in these European countries children will drink with their family at home from a very young age. Where as when you hit perhaps your teens in england you start drinking and USUALLY without the family around. Maybe if having a glass of wine with your meal from a younger age ( I do not mean really young of course) then maybe these English kids would be able to handle their drinks a little more.

Having said all this the above photo is one very lovely beer garden where we drank many a beer ( as well as coke/lemonade with orange juice - yummy) and yes got very tipsy !

Still missing Munich - Part 1

I have so much to say about Munich, it was such a fantastic city and im not sure how I shall get round to telling you everything. But I have decided to split it into a several parts over the next week or so.

Daisy's top 5 reasons to visit Munich
- The people were so friendly
- Each step you take there is history to the left, the right, above and under you
- You can get to near enough anywhere from the central train station
- The food was fantastic
- I spotted some fantastic antique shops

During my week in Munich I think we had three days of VERY hot weather, a few less bright days yet warm still but this made it easier for sightseeing !

On the first day we took the tram into the center where we had a yummy breakfast and began our little adventure around the town.

This road is where I would like to have an apartment if i were to move to Munich. The blocks of apartments were each a different colour, yet all pastel tones. The photo below shows how the street looked when we had finally got to the end f it. (yes it was a long road ) Oh thats another thing, we did so much walking while we were away, so by the end of each day/night i was glad to fall into my bed and sleep !

We did find it funny that even when the road was very clear people would not cross till the green light came on. On one tour we went on the lady did tell us it was "kind of illegal" to cross the road when it is red. I guess this makes sense and we soon came round to this less rushed attitude t crossing the road !

Sadly I don't know what this building is, or if infact it is of any importance at all. I just really liked the cute little shapes and the colour of it.

In Munich there is history everywhere you look, however unless you have a tour guide or perhaps a fantastic tour book then you could very easily miss it. We had missed a lot and walked past some very important buildings where so much happened (more on that later) but did not know anything till we took a guided tour !

So if you do visit Munich I do think that taking a tour guide can be well worth it !

At the end of the pretty road in the photos above was an interesting "pub" which brewed their own beer. On my first few steps through the door the smell of the hops hit me, and i must say its a smell i really do like.

We stayed and sipped coffee and chatted for a while, we did mean to go back to try their beer (even though im not the biggest fan of beer ) but we sadly didn't have time to get back there.

The building was fantastic from the outside to the inside, i expect there was a lot of hidden history about it other than the fact they have brewed their own beer for many years. Yes your correct, I haven't got the name...silly me !
I had to take a shot of the floor in here as this is what i believe is the best flooring , its very 1950's and reminds me of the old milkshake bars ! Also my grandma had a similar flooring in her old home.

Making notes and deciding how to get to places on the underground was a daily thing. The train service, tram service and underground were all quite fantastic, especially compared to here in England (sorry england ! )

This photo was taken whilst sipping green tea at the BMW Welt, I cut my friends out of the photo as I was not so sure they would have wanted me to leave them in ! I have a lot more to tell you but im very sleepy now as I have just got back from my holiday in Southwold!

Missing Munich

Hello girls and boys !

I am back from Munich, I arrived home to an empty house this morning, and now I am about to finish getting ready to get the train to southwold.

I think Munich has to be one of the most fantastic places I have been to. Pleanty of updates to come.

The next few days I have work, packing and running to consume my days !

That was a sneaky little peak at a few of the new goodies I got myself, the first shoes I got a few weeks ago but forgot to show them here.
I think Ill have to do a mini fashion show to have some kind of idea what I will have to take with me. I will only be gone for a week but still, I want t try and pack light...Im not so sure how that will go!

I do hope its going to be sunny in Munich, as I am looking forward to sipping a lovely cocktail like this whilst sitting outside under the sunshine!

This was my lazy , rainy and cold Sunday afternoon!

I went with my family to the sculpture park

It is so pretty here, the art and animals make the poor weather seem fine.

It did brighten up whilst we were there, but only after the rain had got my toes wet!

The above sculpture was of a rabbit and his body was made with lots of different bits, very interesting!

This is one i loved the most. These two rabbits dancing within the trees, it made me think of Alice in Wonderland and the Mad hatter !

For some foolish reason i didnt get a photo of this unusual sculpture from the front. I really should have, it was strange looking but also fantastic. It was 3D from the front view!

Here is me sheltering from the rain under many trees and in-front of a small tree house. I remember when I was younger and this tree house (the door you can see on the left) used to be open and they used to take little children up there. Sadly it is not now and people have posted rubbish through that letter box ! tut tut people are terrible !

They hold classes here, and these creative folk were makin some amazing works of art!

Ive had lots on my mind this weekend, so coming for a walk was just what i needed.

The views are beautiful in rain or shine!
