House & Home: Bedroom Lighting

We’ve been in our lovely new home since February. We’ve made a lot of progress with it but there are still a few changes we need to make. I’m particularly keen to get our bedroom and living room completed before the end of summer. I’d also like to do some work on the garden before the colder months arrive. I love the idea of having a fire pit and some comfy garden furniture to enjoy on crisp cold evenings.

Today I’m going to be focusing on the bedroom. I’m excited to team up with Lights for this collaboration. They currently have 70% off in their summer sale and offer a fantastic range of indoor, outdoor and smart home lighting. They also offer free returns within 30 days which is super handy.

To complete our bedroom we need a new wardrobe to replace our clothing rail, a small rug to bring warmth and texture into the room, a small vanity where I can do my hair and make-up and of course, good lighting. We have some lovely bedside lamps but the ceiling light is simply a naked LED bulb with no shade. As you can imagine, we hardly use it. It’s been summer so that hasn’t been a problem but we’ll need it sorted for the dark evenings that come with autumn.

Lighting is such an important part of any room. I talk about this a lot. The lighting you select can totally change the feel and mood of a room. We have big windows in our room which bring in a lot of light. Saying that we’re based in Sheffield which means the sky will be getting very grey soon. I want our bedroom to feel bright and cheerful during the day and cosy and warm in the evening.

We’re currently on the hunt for the perfect pendant ceiling light. As autumn is coming up I think it would also be useful to have a floor lamp in the corner of the room. I use fairy lights across the top of my bed to add to the cosy feel. I have a couple of packs which I switch between throughout the year.

There are so many options when it comes to pendant lights. I feel like we’ve been doing research for ages now.

We’ve found so many which would be perfect for the kitchen (another room we need to tackle) but we’re looking for something much softer for the bedroom. I prefer modern pendant lights over traditional or industrial styles.

I want to bring in soft shades of pink or rose gold to balance out the grey in our bedroom. We spent ages deciding between mustard yellow and pink. We settled with pink as it’s much more calming and adapts well throughout the different seasons.

I really like the 3 lights you can see above.

The first is Jackson, a retro-inspired floor lamp. I’ve always been a fan of retro styles and I can imagine also using this light in other rooms when we move house or change things around. It’s a very sleek style and won’t take up too much room.

The second is the chic Bellissimo glass light. I love that this would bring a soft pearlescent pink to the room. This glass lampshade is slightly transparent and would look fantastic with a decorative light bulb.

Finally, we have Disa in soft rose. This is a potential winner. It would work well in the bedroom, living room or kitchen so there’s always the option of changing things around. I particularly like the white marble detailing as it makes the light a little more elegant. This is another lampshade which would benefit from a decorative light bulb. I’ve been longing for a reason to pick up some pretty light bulbs for a while now.

Let me know which light you like best.
