Gifting with the help of The Beautiful Book Company

Throughout the month of December I always stumble upon new and interesting small businesses. People create so many exciting, wonderful and practical companies and today I’m sharing one of my recent finds. Have you heard of The Beautiful Book Company (TBBC)? They were founded in 2014 in St.Albans and offer and very unique and personal gifting service.

The concept behind the business is fantastic. They offer a choice of book boxes and monthly subscriptions which are personalised for each and every recipient. They have a very big choice of collections to pick from, there really is something for everyone. You could surprise a new mum, treat the kids, arm your foodie friend with the best cookbooks or pick from one of the many other collections.

Every Book Box is bespoke and filled with 6 hand-picked books. Most of us like to receive post, especially when it’s a box full of surprises. All the books are individually wrapped and beautifully packaged. All you have to to do is select one of the 14 collections available and tell TBBC about the recipient. They will select the books, package and post everything off.

Yes, it’s really that simple.

If you’re looking for a gift that lasts a little longer then check out the monthly subscription service. It works in a similar way to the Book Box. You simply let TBBC know a few details about the lucky person receiving the books (it may even be for yourself), pick one of the 14 packages and then wait for your friend to give you a call when their surprise book arrives.

I think this is such a wonderful idea. I love to give books as gifts but sometimes it can be difficult to organise yourself to select books, package and post them. The Beautiful Book Company take care of packaging and postage so you don’t have to worry about a thing.

I was very kindly treated to The Beautiful Book Company service in December. They picked out a book based upon my interests on my blog, packaged it up and sent it out to me. It arrived in Cambridge before I did so when I made it home for christmas I had a lovely surprise waiting for me.

It looked so pretty that I didn’t want to open it but excitement got the better of me and I finally unwrapped it. Inside was Bread Cake Doughnut Pudding by Justin Gellatly (Head Baker and Pastry Chef at St.John for 12 years). What an excellent choice they made, much more exciting than picking out a book for myself. This book is filled with over 150 tasty recipes for bread, cakes, his famous doughnuts and much much more.

This book is delicious. Seriously, even before you’ve made anything from it you’ll know you’re in for a real treat. The book is filled with sourdough bread and sourdough starter (which I can’t wait to have a go at making), madeleines which I made the other day (with the addition of pistachio and rose), almond ice cream and much much more. The recipes are explained well and the photography is wonderful.

Thank you so much to the team at The Beautiful Book Company for getting it so right and treating me to a bakery book that’s going to be well loved over the years. I’m looking forward to sharing my baking results from this book with you throughout 2016.
