An Evening with John Simpson was arranged to help raise funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance. In Sizewell, Suffolk locals and people from all corners of the UK gathered to listen to this popular, familiar journalist. John recalled funny and hair-raising incidents that have happened over the years. People were then able to ask questions with no topics being off limits. At the end he chatted individually with everyone who came before heading back to his hotel to read his son a bedtime story.
He was very personable and it was a really enjoyable, funny and thoughtful evening. I was lucky enough to take a selection of photographs at the event and more will be going up on my photography blog. I would have ideally asked John to move to a less busy background but there were quite a few people waiting to speak to him an there wasn’t much space for us to be dashing around.
I hear that there will be another evening with John Simpson later in the year and I am very excited about attending again to hear this very brave man tell more stories and share his thoughts on current affairs.
