National Museum of the American Indian – New York

I had an hour to kill ’til D finished work. Luckily, in NYC there’s always something to fill your time with. I decided to leave Wall Street and explore. I like to walk around a new city without a plan. It’s the best way to stumble upon interesting buildings, museums and coffee shops.

I quickly came across the National Museum of the American Indian, just a 5 minute walk from Wall Street and opposite Battery Park. It’s free entry into the museum all year ’round and is open 10am ’til 5pm – always be sure to double check the opening times.

The museum offers a wide range of permanent and temporary exhibitions. There were a mix of videos within the exhibitions which I found interesting. I can sometimes get a little overwhelmed with all the information in museums and that was very much the case for this. However, I did enjoy my time there and even went back for a second visit because there was just so much to see.
If you’re looking for free things to do in New York then this museum should be on your list. Don’t forget to check out their current exhibitions online.
