4 Blue dresses for a summer wedding guest

In June I’m going to Greece for a friend’s wedding. I haven’t been to Greece for a long time so I’m really looking forward to some much needed sunshine. The venue for the wedding is beautiful and I can’t wait for the special date. I just need to find a dress to wear for the occasion. Actually, I also need to get the hotel booked but we’ll talk about that in another post.

I’ve started to keep an eye out for dresses in the hope that I’ll be able to find something I really like and feel comfortable in. I think comfort is very important at a wedding. It’s a long day with lots of sitting, standing and dancing so it’s essential to feel happy in your outfit. I personally like to avoid loud colours and prints for weddings. I think soft pastels and floral prints work best, especially in the warm weather. This of course is not a rule, it’s a personal choice. I like to keep things simple because it’s then much easier to match the dress with shoes and handbags I already have.

Boden Swishy Dress | True Decadence Gold Glitter Bow Detail |People Tree Romola Dress | Uttam Boutique Oriental Pleated Dress | Kate Spade Saddle Bag | Parker Jacquel Dress

I’ve looked on some of my favourite websites this week and have decided that I’ll probably go for a blue and floral print dress. House of Fraser have a fab collection of maxi dresses at the moment so I’ll be keeping an eye on those over the next month or so. I image they’ll soon have lots more pastel dresses now that we’ve hit spring.

The Uttam oriental dress is very pretty. I like the soft pastel shades breaking up the blue at the bottom of the dress. I’m going to have to go into the shop to try it on, I don’t want to end up with something that’s too long for me. Ideally I’d like to wear sandals to the wedding but I do need a little extra height so I might end up with a small open toe heel.

I really like the neckline on the People Tree dress. I think a slight v-neck but not too deep is very flattering on my shape. It also gives the opportunity to layer up a couple of necklaces. A firm favourite for me has to be the Swishy Dress from Boden which is also in the sale. I really like the cut of Boden dresses and the print would make it appropriate for lots of summer parties. I have a few Kate Spade handbags and have been very happy with the quality. I think the saddle style bag would go well with all of the dresses in this post. I know people tend to go for a clutch at weddings but I like to be able to carry around my phone, camera and make-up with ease so this would be much more appropriate.

Finally, if you’re looking to spend a little more then this Parker Jacquel dress is a real beauty. It has a larger print but the mix of blues and whites really break it up. This is a very typical style of dress for me. It’s one I know I’ll naturally feel comfortable with but I can see myself spoiling it with a cardigan.

Now that I’ve done a little research I’m wondering if something with a bit of a sleeve would work better. If you’ve seen any good quality white cardigans around then let me know? Maybe I could work around it.

Thanks to House of Fraser for sponsoring this post.
