Review of Danish Skincare – Ecooking

Gifted products are mentioned in this post but all thoughts and opinions are my own. I have since repurchased several of the products and have become a big fan of the brand.

A couple of weeks before I had my baby a lovely package of Ecooking skincare products arrived at my door. I opened up the box, admired the chic and minimalistic branding and set them out to test. The following couple of weeks were a bit of a blur. I won’t bore you with all the details but when I was back at home after having my baby I was so happy to have a set of new skincare products to use.

Post baby, my skin was very dehydrated, tired, drained and in much need of some TLC. I started using the Ecooking products the day I returned from the hospital and within days I noticed a big change in my skin. I can’t explain it but it looked less….grey and much fuller. Now, that could have been that I finally got some sleep once I was home, a change in my hormones or the skincare products. I’d like to think it was a combination of the 3. A month or so later I noticed my skin become much more hydrated, soft and honestly, I was glowing!

I went away for a couple of weeks to stay with my parents and forgot to take my beloved Super Serum (my favourite product from the range along with the day cream) and boy did I notice a difference. My skin quickly became dry and tired. It was at that moment that I realised what a difference these products were really making to my skin.

In normal circumstances I’d have told you about the brand last year but baby life took over and I have absolutely loved every minute of it. We’ve also relocated to a new city and it turns out moving and packing up a whole house is…. interesting with a very active toddler around.

I did talk about my love of Ecooking regularly over on my Instagram page. I also started writing this post ages ago and made notes on my thoughts of each of the products but it’s taken ’til now for me to sit down and finally finish it.

Anyway, it’s well over a year later but here I am to share my love of Ecooking skincare with you.

The Story Behind Ecooking

Ecooking is a Danish brand. It was launched in 2015 by Tina Søgaard at her kitchen table. She was inspired to create a product line after dealing with her own skincare issues. Each product in the range focuses on targeting a specific problem. The ideas is that whatever your age or skin concern you’ll be able to find the right product within the Ecooking range.

Ecooking Skincare products

Let’s take a look at each of the products.

Super Serum

This has got to be one of my favourite products from the last few years. I love a serum and always have one on the go in my skincare routine.

Super Serum is aimed at ages 35+, this is due to the anti-ageing and fine line minimising properties of the product, hello Hexapeptide-8 – a peptide made from a protein found in Botox. I’ve been using this serum since I was 31 and it’s fantastic. I’ve repurchased it a bunch of times and I think it’s about time that I order another bottle. I’m all about taking preventative measures when it comes to my skincare and I wish I’d know about this serum years ago.

Super Serum is all about giving your skin lots of glow, keeping it hydrated, minimising fine lines and in general, firming up your skin.

I have sensitive skin and have had no reactions to this or any of the other Ecooking products. In fact, the serum has only improved my skin since I started using it back in March 2019. This serum really is effective, seriously, it’s SO GOO! I wouldn’t have continued buying it if it wasn’t.

Day Cream

This day cream was moisturising and hydrating for my skin. The cream contains Hyadisine which has some of the same properties as hyaluronic acid – something I always look for in my skincare. It also claims to reduce fine lines and prevent signs of ageing.

I was using this alongside the Ecooking Super Serum and found it to be fantastic at keeping my skin hydrated, glowing and looking much fuller and plumper than normal.

Multibalm

I love a multi-purpose balm, they’re just so versatile.

I found this balm to be really useful to keep in my handbag and use when my hands felt dry or on any patches of eczema. I also found that it would almost instantly calm any particularly itchy patches of eczema I had. I don’t know if it was meant to do this but it was brilliant.

The first time I used this it was in a tin but I’ve since had another one which came in a tube. I like the look of the tin but i think the tube is much more practical and hygienic.

Cleansing Gel – Gentle Cleansing

I used the cleansing gel daily and yet it lasted for ages! YAY.

It has a pump dispenser so it’s easy to use. I simply use my hands to apply it to my face and neck. In the early days I would use this in the shower. Actually, I have a bad habit of cleansing in the shower to save on time but really that’s not good. The water is just too hot so I need to get back into the habit of using a flannel to remove my cleanser.

I found that the cleanser did a brilliant job at removing my make-up, including mascara. However, I’d also reach for this on a no make-up day. It just left my skin feeling really hydrated and smooth.

I really think using the combination of the Ecooking cleanser, day cream and serum worked wonders for me. I’ll try the cleansing milk next time though as it’s aimed at dry and sensitive skin which is where my skin is at right now. I’ve had a quick look and it contains organic sunflower oil and organic glycerin which are said to calm and moisturise your skin.

Pomegranate Lip balm

I used this lip balm religiously ’til it ran out. Despite really liking it I haven’t ordered another one. I always have a few lip balms ready to go but when I run out I’d happily get this one again.

The lip balm did a perfect job at keeping my lips hydrated throughout the day. It has a little gloss to it so it was good for days when I didn’t want to wear too much make-up.

Moisture mask

I like to have a face mask in my Sunday skincare routine. Actually, the times when I don’t have a mask are usually when I get out of the habit of taking a little extra care of my skin.

This moisture mask was wonderful. It’s one of those masks that you can leave on for 10 minutes or overnight. I prefer doing the latter just because I find it works so much better.

Overall thoughts on Ecooking

I’ve mentioned this before, but I don’t think I realised just how much I enjoyed using the products from Ecooking until I stopped using them.

I’m now a big fan of the brand. I have repurchased many of the products I spoke about today and will continue to do so because they make such a massive difference to my skin.

If you have any specific questions about any of the products then feel free to drop me a message over on Twitter and I’ll be happy to share my experiences.
