Smart coats for winter

Last week we were talking about practical winter coats. Now that’s all sorted I think it’s about time we’re all prepared for looking smart over the next few months. It’s all well and good being prepared for the wind and rain but sometimes you simply can’t wear your practical cosy coat for an evening out with friends, a work meeting or even a day trip. We all like to take care of the way we present ourselves and the city in’t always the place for a wax jacket and muddy boots.

When I was picking the selection of  coats for this post I wanted to keep it classic. I love a bright pink or orange coat as much as the next person but if you’re looking for one coat to go with everything then I suggest sticking with black, navy or grey. My personal favourite for the girls is the beautiful flared Ted Baker coat. It’s a classic shape, pinches in at the waist and has a cute littler collar.

When it comes to the boys selection I have to say that my favourite is the Terry Coat from French Connection. There is nothing quite as smart as a black trench, dark jeans, bright shirt and brogues. It’s set to be an everlasting staple.

I’m sure some of you will already have the practical and smart jacket covered, in which case you might be looking for something a little brighter or a different cut. If orange is your thing then I must suggest this brilliant orange boyfriend peacoat from River Island. If you’re thinking of getting involved with this seasons pink theme then my post from last month might help.

Which is your favourite?
